Pete's a whiz at school, day after day.
Doing puzzles, reading Einstein. (And the occasional play).

But his true love is science and research, you know.
Dabbling in chemistry, and observing trees grow.

Take the day at the lake: He was examining ice.
Without wearing his cap. It made him sneeze twice.

He suspects that's where he got his stuffy nose.
Icky cold germs. (He once studied those.)

But Mom gave him Puffs for Pete's nose's sake.
Now he never leaves home without a box he can take.

So along with his Puffs, Pete's up to his tricks...
Like studying a ladybug on a raft made of sticks.
